Tras el éxito obtenido con la BMW cafe racer SURVIVOR, Lord Drake Kustoms lanza una edición más comercial y de calle denominada BMW R SPORTS EDITION, que se ha customizado en su taller de modificación de BMW en España.
La BMW SURVIVOR, rompió los esquemas cuando se presentó al público y prueba de ello es que de la edición limitada ya se han vendido varias unidades en sólo 8 meses. Pero Fran Manén propietario de LDK, se ha dado cuenta de que la moto tiene mucho éxito pero es una moto cafe racer para un público muy reducido por su exclusividad y alto coste; además es una moto customizada más bien de museo que para rodar con ella.
Por este motivo Francisco decidió sacar una versión más económica y sobre todo más polivalente y de calle…de ahí nace la nueva BMW R SPORT EDITION. Las principales diferencias son que lleva una horquilla Showa en vez de una horquilla Springer, las manetas que no son invertidas y el sistema de amortiguación trasero.
El resto la moto es prácticamente igual a excepción de algunos detalles como las botoneras, intermitentes delantero o faro. Todo el trabajo se ha llevado a cabo en el taller cafe racer en Málaga (España) y desde allí se ha comenzado a vender yexportar más unidades de esta nueva BMW R modificada de forma totalmente única y exclusiva.
Para la customización de estas cafe racer con aires retro e incluso bobber, se podrá elegir entre motos base BMW R100, R80, R65 y R45… y se podrán elegir diferentes colores, acabados de tapicería y detalles.
Esta nueva versión de BMW cafe racer de Lord Drake Kustoms ha sido modificada de forma que se pueda homologar sin problemas en España (esta moto customizada ya está homologada y con su respectiva ITV… a excepción del tubo de escape!)
El chasis ha sido pintado con pintura electroestática en polvo al horno en color blanco roto por la empresa Metal Colors el resto de piezas se ha bañado en dorado o cromo . Muchos de los accesorios y piezas cafe racer de esta moto custom son de la tienda customiza tu moto.

A RETURN TO THE TRENCHES
The client wanted to turn his recently purchased Harley Davidson Sportster into a real bobber bike and we have done just that.
We have decided to give it a retro, bobber air that reminds us of the military theme or “ARMY” of the Harleys used in war but with a current and new base.
The first thing was to put a 200 rear wheel for Sportster with fat daddy fat spoke rims and modify the entire rear until it was single-seater with a Biltwell seat without springs and a minimalist and handcraftedrear fender for this Harley Davidson.

The Sportster forty eight fuel tank has been preserved and the original odometer has been relocated and is located on the side of the bike, a Sportster drag barhas been installed, new led indicators and the front fender has been trimmed. A belly pan, handcrafted license plate bracket and other details complete this custom bike.

Other parts
Many of the parts and accessories of this Bobber motorcycle are from the Customiza Tu Moto store, such as the Vance and Hines mini grenades exhausts and a new bobber-style air filter for Harley Davidson.
Subsequently, this Sportster 1200 was remapped with the DIAG4BIKE system in our specialized Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga. All the black painting has been done with baked powder paint in the Metal Colors companyand the fuel tank has been painted military green.

And once the customization work of this Harley Davidson Sportster Bobber Army has been completed, the entire reform has been legalized through its Homologation.
This BMW R NINE T modification with WUNDERLICH accessories and other handcrafted details is more of a BMW motorcycle restyling job that Lord Drake Kustoms has done in our BMW transformation workshop in Vélez Málaga.
At the rear, the first thing we have done has been to remove the rear fender with its original license plate holder and later we have proceeded to install a license plate support for swingarm to measure height from the brand of accessories for motorcycles BMW Wunderlich.
We have installed the rear light and indicators behind the seat with the Wunderlich R nine T rear light bracket.
Up front, we’ve trimmed down the fender and painted the fender mount black as well as the headlight rim. We have removed the original mirrors and levers and replaced them with new BMW R nineT folding levers and mirrors on the homologated cafe racer motorcycle grips placed downwards. To finish the front we have installed a set ofbrake and clutch master cylinder covers, also from the Wunderlich accessories brand.
In the engine part we have installed a Wunderlich “Dakar” engine guard and some Puig brand engine guards for BMW R nine T and finally we have painted the air intake pipe in black powder.
A lockable helmet holder has also been installed on the side of the chassis and a Quad Lock phone mount with vibration reduction on the handlebars.
The electrostatic powder painting works in the oven have been carried out by the company Metal Colors.
The idea was not to modify this BMW R nineT much, since it is a new motorcycle whose owner only wanted to improve its aesthetics and do a restyling. This motorcycle has practically left the official BMW dealership to go directly to our BMW transformation workshop in Vélez Málaga.
This new “Indian Scout 240 Bobber BAD” by Lord Drake Kustoms, is an Indian motorcycle transformation work carried out in its customization workshop in Spain and is attracting the attention of all who see it, due to its impressive 240 rear tire and for numerous details that we will discuss in this post.

In the beginning, the owner of this custom bikehad a totally different idea of what we have done in this Scout transformed into bobber style in our workshop specialized in modifications of Indian motorcycles. The only thing that has been kept from the original idea is the installation of a 240 rear wheel for Indian..
CUSTOM PARTS
A brutal set of tires (240 rear) and a single-seater hanging seat accompanied by a custom-made Indian bobber rear fenderand the cut front fender have marked the style of the purest transformation of a bobber motorcycle.
The mini apehang-on handlebar and the Ohlins shock absorbers for Indian Scout have given another important touch to this custom bike…

And finally, small details such as the handcrafted license plate holder, the HP Corse exhaust tails, turn signals and new Led headlight, grips and footrest , etc. etc.
Finally, to make it more comfortable, a kit has been installed to delay the driver’s foot pegs, specific for Scout models of the Indian brand.
Little by little the motorcycle customization project was changed to do something more than the installation of a 240 rear tire on an Indian motorcycle and almost the entire motorcycle has been modified; which has been given a few tribute touches to the “King of Pop”… Michael Jackson of whom the owner of this customized Indian Scout is a fan… Hence the “MJ” logo with the crown on the rear fender or other details such as the word “BAD” or a logo with the silhouette of the famous singer.
Two types of black have been combined in the painting of a motorcycle as characteristic as this one: Gloss black for the outer areas of the lines and pearl black for the inner part. All the lines or pinstriping and the MJ logo have been painted in silver with colored glitter to recall the shine of the glove with precious stones that the singer wore and that have dressed this “Indian Scout 240 Bobber BAD”.
With this custom motorcycle, Francisco Alí Manén (owner of LDK) wanted to refresh the look of the first Harleysor Indian motorcycles using a current motorcycle such as the injection Harley Davidson Softail Standard.
HANDCRAFTED CUSTOMIZATION
To customize a motorcycle like this, the first thing we have done has been to disassemble it completely and then we have used the original Harley chassis and engine to start with this Bobber or Vintage style motorcycle project.

Subsequently (as this motorcycle model was not a Harley Davidson Springer) we installed a Harley springer fork and then two 19” spoke wheels with Firestone Champion Deluxe tires.
Next up (and the most important thing for us) has been the gas tank, which has been entirely hand-built and made of metal at Lord Drake Kustoms.

We have also made the rear fender, the license plate holder, or the support and the seat base, among other elements, in our custom workshop and cafe racer in Spain.
To complete the vintagemotorcycle look of this Harley Davidson Bobber we have installed a Biltwell spring seat.

Custom made manifolds with a trumpet tail make up the 2:1 exhaust system on this custom Harley.
In addition, a Vity’s Designair filter, a Biltwell tracker handlebar, a Motogadget tiny odometer, brake discs and other custom accessories such as Kellerman atto micro indicators, a 5.75 ”headlight, etc. have been installed.
For the finishes, we have chosen to combine black and chrome in most of the components of this modified Harley Davidson.
And to give it a more retro feel we have painted the fuel tank and rear fender in light blue with details in navy blue and white.

Transformations of BMW motorcycles like this BMW R100 BOBBER RED, tend to be increasingly common in the market, to the point that it is increasingly difficult to find a good base bike to make a project of this type, as they are running out and the remaining units are either very expensive or are in a very deplorable state.
The Biltwell Tracker handlebar accompanied by the odometer for BMW Motogadget Mini, new controls and button panels, as well as the Motogadget Blaze disc indicators on the brown grips also from the Biltwell brand make up the front of this custom bike.

On this BMW bobber scrambler we also highlight the hanging seat upholstered in brown with diamonds, shocks with air bottle and fenders trimmed attached to the bobber style wheels and finally some continental tires TKC 80.
To highlight with respect to other custom BMW R100, the color used in the fuel tank is a very elegant matte red, combined with the brown seat, differs from the typical finishes of these bobber scrambler bikes that are usually darker.
After all the mechanical restoration work on a BMW R100 like this one, we proceeded to paint all the components in matte black with electrostatic powder coating at Metalcolors.
HOMOLOGATION
Finally the homologation of all the reforms made on a bobber/scrambler bike for Spain that has gone from being an old BMW R100 to be a unique modified and exclusive bike… which is now known as BMW R100 BOBBER RED.
Fran Manen has been invited to participate in the promotional video of his hometown, Velez-Malaga (Malaga). Together with other famous local personalities, the video shows all the tourist attractions it has to offer.
The video will be presented in Madrid at the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR).
Choosing the best cafe racer and custom motorcycles of 2021 from Lord Drake Kustoms is difficult, since we have carried out motorcycle transformation in more than 40 units of all styles and brands throughout the year in our customization workshops.

Regarding the modification of TRIUMPH motorcycles, we are left with the “TRIUMPH MARDANIS” for a passionate customer of the “LOBO KING” in Murcia and the “TRIUMPH ARMY”customized for the owner of the company dedicated to creating spaces in maritime containers MY BOX EXPERIENCE.
And so we could continue to list our favorite custom bikes of the year, but as we said at the beginning, choosing the best cafe racer and custom bikes of 2021 from Lord Drake Kustoms is almost impossible … because each of them has its own personality.
Modifying a motorcycle to turn it into a scrambler has been very common for a few years and as always at LDK we adapt to new fashions or trends in terms of motorcycle customization, and we even try to stand out in each one of them.
Proof of this is this Yamaha XT 600, which arrived at our custom motorcycle workshop (in deplorable conditions) from a client who wanted to restore and transform the motorcycle into something different.
Fran Manen (owner of Lord Drake Kustoms), was very clear at the time… the motorcycle had to be transformed into a scrambler; Although this Yamaha does not belong to the group of typical high-performance motorcycles or performance bikes (Harley, Triumph, BMW, etc.) that we usually make in our motorcycle transformation workshop in Malaga.

This is the “Harley Fundación Olivares” customized by Lord Drake Kustoms in Spain and it is perhaps the custom motorcycle with the most Soul, Magic and Heart that we have made to date. During the pandemic, at the hands of a mutual friend, Francisco Alí Manén (owner of LDK), he received a visit in his custom workshop and café racer in Malaga from Andrés Olivares (president of the Foundation); that he is also a huge fan of custom bikes.
The base model chosen was a Harley Davidson XL 1200 Customs. This transformed Sportster should not be a cafe racer or scrambler, this custom motorcycle simply had to be a transformed motorcycle with a lot of soul, magic and heart; And what better way to do it than by representing the Foundation. That is why the color white and its colors have been used.
The number 558 of thecustom made fenders represent the families that the foundation has helped since the beginning of its activity (Only in the first 9 months of 2021 they have helped 100 families!)
The Cole Foster gas tank for Sportster, in addition to bearing the logos of the Olivares Foundation, bears the imprint of a child’s hand. This child is the son of Francisco Alí Manén… Alejandro, who despite being 9 years old was the one who had the idea and wanted to place his hand there to represent and give hope to all the children.
The candy red color of the motor represents the strong hearts of all those children who are true fighters and are full of illusion despite being punished by a disease as bad as cancer.
