BMW R18 BOBBER BLACK

This new BMW R18 “BOBBER BLACK”, has been the transformation of a very special BMW motorcycle made in the Lord Drake Kustoms motorcycle customization workshops in Spain.

TRUE TO HIS STYLE

Fran Manen, owner of LDK, received this BMW R18 from its owner, to be a fully modified motorcycle. But with one condition; and it is that it had to maintain the original black color, with white lines and chrome components.

A BOBBER WITH A BOXER ENGINE

This converted BMW motorcycle, called “BMW R18 “BOBBER BLACK”, is quite a beast (aesthetically speaking) since, except for the original fuel tank, components from almost all areas of the motorcycle have been touched to convert it into a bobber with a boxer engine.

The rear, with a totally bobber motorcycle style, is made up of a fender attached to the wheel with metal tube side supports, a side arm license plate holder that places the plate just behind the wheel and minimalist 3-in-1 lights with turn signals Kellerman incorporated.

At the front of this BMW R18 bobber, a small front fender with metal tube fasteners like the rear one, a new handlebar with adjustable levers from the WUNDERLICH brand, mirrors at the ends of the fists and finally some Motogadget M-Blaze disc indicators.

POWDERCOATING

The painting of the two fenders matching of the original tank of this BMW Bobber was done in gloss black with the two lines or pinstriping in white.

Other elements have been painted in black with powdercoating in the METAL COLORS company.

The team of “A toda costa”, a summer program on Canal Sur that travels through the most charming places in Andalusia, getting to know its people, went to the beach of Torre del Mar (Vélez-Málaga) to interview and meet Fran Manen.

Fran brought two of his latest creations to the beach, which the presenter was able to admire up close. These are theBMW R Springer “Survivor” and the Harley Davidson Springer Bobber Blue. They also went on a short motorcycle trip together.

Today we are going to talk about the YAMAHA XT “BLUE SCRAMBLER”, a motorcycle customized by Lord Drake Kustoms in hiscafe racer and scrambler motorcycle transformation workshop in Spain, which will surely attract attention as it passes through the streets.

A mythical base

This Yamaha Scrambler, is the third XT 600 that Francisco Alí Manén and his brand LDK (Lord Drake Kustoms), have recently transformed in Spain and this time they have achieved an authentic scrambler motorcycle with a mythical base with the Yamaha XT 600 of the late from the 90s

THE CUSTOMIZATION PROCESS

After completely disassembling this bike (by the way, this bike is like new, but it had been standing still for many years), we began by modifying the entire rear and replacing the original 21-inch wheel with a new 19-inch wheel. Regarding the front fork, we have opted on this occasion and at the request of the client to keep the original one that has been somewhat modified.

A new gas tank more scrambler, a biltwell tracker handlebar and a mask made of metal are some of the elements to highlight in this YAMAHA XT “BLUE SCRAMBLER”. In addition to the nice exhaust system that has been the result of modifying the original collectors and adding a new tail.

HANDMADE PARTS

The custom-made seat with matching brown upholstery on the rear grips and footrests, since this bike is for two seats, continental tkc 8 tires, a 5.75-inch headlight, a custom-made front fender and a new rear bracket. license plate, all of this work of our brand (LDK) give shape to this scrambler motorcycle customized in Spain.

New odometer, mirrors, turn signals and led pilot, and other small ones such as a lithium battery relocated under the seat, relocation of the ignition key, conical air filters, or the engine guard are some other details in this motorcycle transformed with scrambler style Street tracker.

As for the finishes, matt black throughout the bike, except for the fuel tank that has been painted electric blue with cream tears and gold pinstriping.

Of course, all the work carried out on the YAMAHA XT “BLUE SCRAMBLER” has been fully homologated with our homologation for converted and/or refurbished motorcycles in Spain (with the exception of the exhaust tail).

We present the new Sportster Bobber Gulf customized in our motorcycle custom workshop in Spain and for which Lord Drake Kustoms has used a carbureted Harley Davidson Sportster 883 R as a base custom motorcycle.

A CAREFULLY MODIFIED SPORTSTER

This Sportster Bobber has been carefully modified from start to finish (Fran Manen, owner of Lord Drake Kustoms, tells us). A shorter handcrafted front fender, bobber rear fender for Harley Sportster fitted to the wheel with highly detailed handcrafted brackets have been installed.

CUSTOM WHEELS WITH FAT SPOKES

In this customized Sportster Bobber Gulf we have not skimped when it comes to choosing rims and that is why the wheels look nothing more and nothing less than two llantas custom de radios gordosfat-spoked custom rims for Harley Davidson with a change of size on the front wheel where we have installed a rim of 21 inches.

Other details to highlight are the Monza-type gas cap for Harley, front led turn signals for custom motorcycles, round mirrors on the grips or the Biltwell grips.

POWDERCOATING

An authentic bobber motorcycle, which has been spectacular for its gloss lacquered pure metal finish and some orange and light blue touches in reference to the GULF brand.

The black paint has been made with baked electrostatic powder coating made by the Spanish company Metal Colors.

HOMOLOGATION

We have finally approved and legalized all the reforms carried out on this transformed Harley (with the exception of the exhaust pipes) for Spain and now this customized Sportster Bobber Gulf is ready to roll on the streets and highways.

This new transformed “BRASS” BMW R has an alloy of scrambler, bobber and cafe racer bike styles; and it has been one of the last BMW customization works that Lord Drake Kustoms has carried out in his BMW motorcycle transformation workshop in Spain.

The perfect alloy

The base model is a BMW R100 or R 80; is the smaller sister… a BMW R45 and Francisco Alí Manén (owner of LDK) points out that it has its own identity that is given by the combination of colors used and the combination of motorcycle transformation styles that it represents: Cafe Racer for its handlebars, Scrambler for its studded tires and Bobber for its seat and rear.

BRASS COLOR

The bronze-painted upside-down fork has given this converted BMW R a premium touch. Details like the bronze-plated BMW metal tank emblems or the camel BMW R hanging bobber seat are other details that make this transformed bike a real delight.

The fuel tank has been painted in a matte lacquered off-white tone and the rest of the transformed motorcycle has been baked in matt black electrostatic powder paint that has been enhanced by the company METALCOLORS

LOTS OF DETAILS

Turn signals and motogadget odometer, LED taillight under the seat, biltwell tracker handlebars and grips, mirrors, handcrafted license plate holders, handcrafted fenders and endless other details have been installed on this BMW R45 cafe racer, scrambler, bobber… or however you want it call, we simply call it BMW R “BRASS”.

Lord Drake Kustoms usually does this type of work in his BMW motorcycle customization workshop in Spain, regardless of where the custom bike is going to go. Since in his custom motorcycle workshop in Miami it is more complicated to work with this type of motorcycle so typically European.

Homologation

We have finally carried out the homologation of all the modifications made to this customized BMW motorcycle from start to finish!

Tras el éxito obtenido con la BMW cafe racer SURVIVOR,  Lord Drake Kustoms lanza una edición más comercial y de calle denominada BMW R SPORTS EDITION, que se ha customizado en su taller de modificación de BMW en España.

La BMW SURVIVOR, rompió los esquemas cuando se presentó al público y prueba de ello es que de la edición limitada ya se han vendido varias unidades en sólo 8 meses. Pero Fran Manén propietario de LDK, se ha dado cuenta de que la moto tiene mucho éxito pero es una moto cafe racer para un público muy reducido por su exclusividad y alto coste; además es una moto customizada más bien de museo que para rodar con ella.

Por este motivo Francisco decidió sacar una versión más económica y sobre todo más polivalente y de calle…de ahí nace la nueva BMW R SPORT EDITION. Las principales diferencias son que lleva una horquilla Showa en vez de una horquilla Springer, las manetas que no son invertidas y el sistema de amortiguación trasero.

El resto la moto es prácticamente igual a excepción de algunos detalles como las botoneras, intermitentes delantero o faro. Todo el trabajo se ha llevado a cabo en el taller cafe racer en Málaga (España) y desde allí se ha comenzado a vender yexportar más unidades de esta nueva BMW R modificada de forma totalmente única y exclusiva.

Para la customización de estas cafe racer con aires retro e incluso bobber, se podrá elegir entre motos base BMW R100, R80, R65 y R45… y se podrán elegir diferentes colores, acabados de tapicería y detalles.

Esta nueva versión de BMW cafe racer de Lord Drake Kustoms ha sido modificada de forma que se pueda homologar sin problemas en España (esta moto customizada ya está homologada y con su respectiva ITV… a excepción del tubo de escape!)

El chasis ha sido pintado con pintura electroestática en polvo al horno en color blanco roto por la empresa Metal Colors el resto de piezas se ha bañado en dorado o cromo . Muchos de los accesorios y piezas cafe racer de esta moto custom son de la tienda customiza tu moto.

SPORTSTER BOBBER ARMY

The SPORTSTER BOBBER ARMY is a customization made with a motorcycle recently left by a Harley Davidson dealer in Spain.

The base model is a Sportster 48 Forty Eight from the year 2021 that Lord Drake Kustoms has modified in his specialized Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga.

A RETURN TO THE TRENCHES

The client wanted to turn his recently purchased Harley Davidson Sportster into a real bobber bike and we have done just that.

We have decided to give it a retro, bobber air that reminds us of the military theme or “ARMY” of the Harleys used in war but with a current and new base.

HANDMADE MANUFACTURING

The first thing was to put a 200 rear wheel for Sportster with fat daddy fat spoke rims and modify the entire rear until it was single-seater with a Biltwell seat without springs and a minimalist and handcrafted rear fender for this Harley Davidson.

The Sportster forty eight fuel tank has been preserved and the original odometer has been relocated and is located on the side of the bike, a Sportster drag barhas been installed, new led indicators and the front fender has been trimmed. A belly pan, handcrafted license plate bracket and other details complete this custom bike.

Other parts

Many of the parts and accessories of this Bobber motorcycle are from the Customiza Tu Moto store, such as the Vance and Hines mini grenades exhausts and a new bobber-style air filter for Harley Davidson.

MILITARY GREEN

Subsequently, this Sportster 1200 was remapped with the DIAG4BIKE system in our specialized Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga. All the black painting has been done with baked powder paint in the Metal Colors company and the fuel tank has been painted military green.

And once the customization work of this Harley Davidson Sportster Bobber Army has been completed, the entire reform has been legalized through its Homologation.

Modification of BMW R NINE T

Modification of BMW R NINE T

This BMW R NINE T modification with WUNDERLICH accessories and other handcrafted details is more of a BMW motorcycle restyling job that Lord Drake Kustoms has done in our BMW transformation workshop in Vélez Málaga.

At the rear, the first thing we have done has been to remove the rear fender with its original license plate holder and later we have proceeded to install a license plate support for swingarm to measure height from the brand of accessories for motorcycles BMW Wunderlich.

We have installed the rear light and indicators behind the seat with the Wunderlich R nine T rear light bracket.

Up front, we’ve trimmed down the fender and painted the fender mount black as well as the headlight rim. We have removed the original mirrors and levers and replaced them with new BMW R nineT folding levers and mirrors on the homologated cafe racer motorcycle grips placed downwards. To finish the front we have installed a set ofbrake and clutch master cylinder covers, also from the Wunderlich accessories brand.

In the engine part we have installed a Wunderlich “Dakar” engine guard and some Puig brand engine guards for BMW R nine T and finally we have painted the air intake pipe in black powder.

A lockable helmet holder has also been installed on the side of the chassis and a Quad Lock phone mount with vibration reduction on the handlebars.

The idea was not to modify this BMW R nineT much, since it is a new motorcycle whose owner only wanted to improve its aesthetics and do a restyling. This motorcycle has practically left the official BMW dealership to go directly to our BMW transformation workshop in Vélez Málaga.
