BMW R65 by Lord Drake Kustoms in Biker Zone magazine in its number 311

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There were few BMW motorcycles with which Lord Drake Kustoms had worked, but this Cafe Racer based on a BMW R65 has meant a start for new future projects with this brand.

Biker Zone in its latest issue 311 has dedicated a report to this magnificent bike.

As always, we offer a transcript of the report.

BMW R65

LORD DRAKE KUSTOMS

Everyone who knows me knows that I am a Harleys fan; and until now I had only worked with two BMW motorcycles (one R 1200 S and one R 1150 S), Francisco Alí Manén, owner of Lord Drake Kustoms, told us.

TEXT: FRANCISCO ALÍ MANEN – PHOTOS: ALVARO MANEN

This R65 was the first BMW classic to fall into the hands of Lord Drake Kustoms. Its owner, Ana, a native of Granada, is a lover of motorcycles and with her father she has a small collection of old motorcycles.

Ana arrived at the LDK workshop in Malaga to meet Francisco, driving a 48 Sportster, but she did not modify the Harley, she went to modify a BMW R65 that her father had given her. Although the bike was in excellent condition and despite the instructions of his father warning him not to touch her, she was clear that she wanted a very elegant and aggressive cafe racer.

“A few weeks later it would be Ana herself, the one who would bring the motorbike to our workshop in Malaga, driving it from Granada and there the story began …, Fran pointed out.

“THE GASOLINE DEPOSIT WAS REPLACED BY THE MODEL OF THE R100 AND IT WAS PROCEDED TO MODIFY THE WHOLE SUBCHASIS”

We started by disassembling the whole bike to blast it and paint the chassis, engine and other parts in black. Then the fuel tank was replaced by the model of the R100 and the entire subframe was modified to adapt a tail car made to measure for this occasion. To give it a more aggressive touch, higher air dampers were placed and the front suspension was lowered. The color was simple, an elegant color, all black and the green body (Racing Green) with the brown touch of seat made to measure “.

“THE COLOR WAS SIMPLE, A ELEGANT COLOR, ALL BLACK AND THE GREEN BODY (RACING GREEN) WITH THE BROWN TOUCH”

Just leave this motorcycle from the oven of Lord Drake Kustoms, it seems that BMW lovers agreed to start sending their machines to LDK in Malaga, because they are currently customizing a K100 and an R100 and in the coming weeks will begin to work with two other BMWs (one R100rs and one K1) that are apparently going to have to talk … we’ll see!

Ducati 999 Neoracer by Lord Drake Kustoms in Biker Zone Magazine

Ducati 999 Neoracer by Lord Drake Kustoms in Biker Zone Magazine

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It is not the first time that we worked with a Ducati, but not with one that was not a Monster model. This project has been collected by the magazine Biker Zone in a five-page report that was recently published.

If you want to know more details about this Ducati 999 do not forget to visit his file on this page.

We publish below the transcript of the report.

DUCATI 999

by Lord Drake Kustoms

After a lifetime in circuits this Ducati 999 is resurrected for the street.

TEXT: FRANCISCO ALÍ MANÉN – PHOTOS: ÁLVARO MANÉN

Its owner who lives a few kilometers from the circuit of Cheste; decided a few months ago that the time had come to recycle this magnificent motorcycle and turn it into a more comfortable, current and quiet style. That was how one day he decided to call Lord Drake Kustoms in Malaga, where Francisco Ali Manén (owner of LDK) would attend him and exchange ideas of how the new Ducati 999 could be. After the telephone conversation the project was closed and ready to begin Act.

At a time when it seems that only some old motorcycle models can be transformed and in which many people seem to be crazy to find some scrap from 40 years ago in which to spend a disproportionate amount of money (for the type and state in which they tend to be) what better job than to transform a motorcycle totally opposite to the fashion trends … a relatively modern motorcycle and also total racing! Nothing more and nothing less than a 999 Ducati.

The owner of Lord Drake Kustoms told us: “For me it was a very nice project, because I love the Ducati and this was the first time I worked with one that was not a Monster model.

“A LOT OF PEOPLE SEEMS TO BE CRAZY TO FIND SOME 40 YEARS OLD SCRAP IN WHICH TO SPEND AN AMOUNT OF DISPROPORTIONED MONEY”

I must admit that at first the idea overwhelmed me a little, because the 999 unlike the Monster, comes loaded with parts and elements that were hidden behind the fairing … which would be one of the main challenges: leaving the bike aesthetically clean , beautiful and functional once the fairings were removed. Then, if we wanted to make a difference, we were clear that the tires should be different and in this case nothing better than some of the spokes to give it a more classic touch “.

Francisco Alí Manén has also modified the entire subframe and incorporated the rear turn signals on it. In addition, part of the stainless steel exhaust manifold has been manufactured to convert it into a 2: 1 and adapt a Supertrapp tail. All hand controls have been modified just like the front suspension. The rear brake caliper has had to be modified in its position to be used with the new spoke wheels. The front fender and the side cover of the battery have been manufactured by hand and many other modifications that you can see in this report or in the complete photo album of the page www.lorddrakekustoms.com.

Finally, the whole bike has been painted. The chassis has gone from gray to red, the engine from gray to black and the fuel tank has been painted in a simple white with the somewhat more classic Ducati graphics, to give it a more elegant touch and obtain as a result wonderful Ducati 999 “neoracer”.

“Copper Boss” based on a Triumph by Lord Drake Kustoms in ChopperON

“Copper Boss” based on a Triumph by Lord Drake Kustoms in ChopperON

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A Belgian dealer was the germ of this custom Triumph motorcycle: the Copper Boss of Lord Drake Kustoms. A vintage Street Tracker that has marked a before and after in this type of motorcycle.

We leave you with the report that ChopperOn, a magazine specialized in the custom world in Spain, made in its number 90, in April 2016.

Copper Boss by Lord Drake Kustoms

Vintage street tracker

This Bonneville, is one of the orders that one of the most important Triumph dealers in Europe (located in Belgium) have made to LDK

Text and images: Lord Drake Kustoms

A little over a year ago, the owners of the Belgian dealer visited Francisco Ali Manén to learn about his work and the facilities of Lord Drake Kustoms in Spain.

That visit, became an agreement so that Lord Drake Kustoms will begin to modify and customize motorcycles for the aforementioned Triumph dealer.

This bike must be different from everything seen with the Bonneville and the “Copper Boss” is the result.

Practically left the owner of LDK, carte blanche to do what he wanted with the bike and only gave him a note: “Street tracker with very urban airs.”

And Francisco had it very clear: Nothing of black, gray or brown typical colors! No anti-heat tape in the leaks! No long board seat, no arc at the end of the chassis and no Firestone tires!

“Elements that apparently have become characteristic in most Triumphs when they are customized, whatever their style” Francisco tells us.

Elegant the color ivory. For being the famous British brand, he decided to combine the ivory with a tone “British racing green” that resulted in a somewhat lighter green but original Triumph. And finally it was necessary to give it a striking and alive and at the same time vintage touch: the aged copper color was decisive for it.

The gas tank was completely created for this motorcycle. The entire rear section was made of metal with a slightly different style than what we are used to seeing, the seat and its upholstery was totally handy for this bike. In addition to many other modifications and small details such as the integrated rear lights inside the own bars of the bike’s chassis. And the most important; details and immaculate finishes and outstanding even in the last screw of the motorcycle.

This bike was presented in Belgium a few months ago; and it has caused a before and after in the concept of modification of these bikes.

For more information or if you are interested in customizing a motorcycle, you can contact Lord Drake Kustoms in Spain (Málaga). They offer a free collection and delivery service throughout the Peninsula and the rest of Europe

“Bultracker 75” the Scrambler based of a Sportster by Lord Drake Kustoms in ChopperOn

“Bultracker 75” the Scrambler based of a Sportster by Lord Drake Kustoms in ChopperOn

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]ChoperON is another of the spanish  magazines dedicated to the world of motorcycling and customization. This time we bring you a report of his number 88 in December 2015 to show our Bultracker 75.

BULTRACKER 75 – THE ONE OF THE YEAR

Due to the sales success of the Sportster converted to Scrambler by Lord Drake Kustoms, it was time to make a new unit. This time Francisco Manén, owner of LDK, wanted to make some more risky colors and combining elements and designs from his previous scrambler lines: the sportracker and the bultracker.

Text and photos: Francisco Alí Manén

The result was this scrambler, which without thinking, remembers by its color to the graphics and colors of the Castrol brand: dark green pearl, silver and red details. To give it a more classic touch, Francisco Manén opted to put the fenders in chrome.

The tank used in the Sportracker line was combined with the front wheel of 21 “to give it a classic” moto cross “type air. The engine is an 883 injection with the transmission converted to chain with a longer and sporty development.

Tired of looking for numbers with some meaning for motorcycles, the owner of LDK, had it easy this time: the number 75, which is his year of birth: “So many years doing motorcycles and looking for a number for them and never made one with a number that had relation with me, because it was time “

This motorcycle is located in the facilities of Lord Drake Kustoms in Spain, and is now available for sale; including in its price homologation, transfer and free shipping to all of Spain and the rest of Europe.

“So many years doing motorcycles and looking for a number for them and I never made one with a number that was related to me, because it was time”

For some years Lord Drake Kustoms is the company responsible for modifying and making custom bikes for several dealers of the American brand. Two of these dealerships are in Florida (USA) where LDK has its facilities for almost eight years now. And since the opening of the new branch in Spain (Malaga), almost two years ago, they have made custom bikes for two Triumph dealers (one in England and one in Belgium) and Harley dealers in Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and Spain. At this time the owner of LDK (Francisco Alí Manén), is closing an agreement with another dealership in the Middle East.

LDK has facilities in Malaga, from where it offers service of transformation and modification of motorcycles for all Spain and the rest of Europe … regardless of the style or brand of the bike and of course with budgets for all budgets!
