“GRAUM FEST GRANADA”

Lord Drake Kustoms will be present at the “GRAUM FEST GRANADA”, which will be held on the 19th, 20th and 21st of May. The event is dedicated to the world of custom culture and urban trends. Among the activities to be held, we can highlight the Custom Bike Show, Car Show, Freestyle Motocross Show, Exhibitions, Aerography, Tattoos, etc.

Followers and lovers of cafe racer, scrambler or custom bikes in general will be able to enjoy some of the creations of Lord Drake Kustoms in his stand, where you can see in person 5 or 6 of his latest bikes (among them, “ENVY “Ranked 5th place in the world as the best modified Harley at the AMD World Championship held last October in Germany) . LDK, will present in this event its last creation; a BMW R1200S called “MARDANIS”.

The “Trending Topic” Harley…the “Hashtag #” motorcycle.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Here we present the motorcycle that Lord Drake Kustoms has made for the brand of clothing and accessories Trending Topic.

A few months ago the owner of the brand in Malaga (David Postigo), contacted Francisco Manén (LDK owner), to explain the project he wanted to do with a Harley Davidson model Softail Deuce that he had just acquired. The owner of the clothing brand, wanted something different and not the typical custom bike that is usually made with softail bases. He also wanted to be able to use it as a corporate image of his new company.

They quickly came to an agreement and they clearly understood what the final result should be like … It must be a motorcycle with vintage look, old school and remembering the bobber style, without becoming the typical bike customized with these styles until now. In addition it was decided to give a few touches that remind us even of a cafe racer (example the fairing, the spoiler or the central grill that has been installed). This bike has been customized in the workshop that LDK has in Malaga (SPAIN). The result is this elegant and aggressive custom motorcycle; which you can see in the magnificent photo report by the photographer Alvaro Manén.

“BULTRACKER 72”

“BULTRACKER 72”

This motorcycle is probably one of the prettiest Harley Sportster Scrambler built by Lord Drake Kustoms in his custom motorcycle workshop in Malaga (Spain). A whole Harley Off Road with a very aggressive and elegant look at the same time.

The “BULTRAKCER 72” was built on a Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Roadster base. This time they did not want to make a custom motorcycle with Off Road airs; they wanted to make a real Sportster Scrambler, which would make them want to go riding on the dirt tracks with it.

Modifications to this Harley Sportster Scrambler

This new Scrambler motorcycle, which retains the fuel tank peanut Sportster, has undergone several changes from previous BULTRACKER models. One of them and perhaps the most notable has been the incorporation of a new Roland Sands Slant exhaust.

Bultracker 72

The front suspension has been modified to include upper covers, a new front and rear fender have been manufactured and various details have been incorporated such as the Sportster Joker sprocket cover or the Roland Sands air filter.

Regarding the paint on this bike, it was decided to keep the original graphics of themodels XL 883R to give it a touch more racing, but combined with a white background. The rest were combined with powder coating textured black and bright red details applied by the company Metal Colors.

Bultracker 72

The “Bultracker 72” was the European champion in the Sportster category of the Custom Bike Show of the European HOG Rally 2017 held in Lugano (Switzerland).

This motorcycle transformed into the specialized Harley workshop that LDK has in Spain, was for a client from the United Kingdom. Once finished,  Fran Manen personally delivered this Harley Scrambler to its owner thanks to the motorcycle transport service they offer themselves.

When the idea of ​​this Triumph Bonneville Scrambler came up, the owners of one of the largest Triumph dealerships in Europe (located in Belgium) visited Fran Manen to learn about his work and the facilities of Lord Drake Kustoms in Spain.

A special Triumph Bonneville Scrambler for a brand dealership in Belgium 

That visit became an agreement for LDK to begin the modification and transformation of motorcycles in a Cafe Racer and Scrambler style for the aforementioned Triumph dealership.

The first commission was a Triumph Bonneville of 2005 that should be different, very attractive and should be done in less than a month; since it was going to be the first Triumph motorcycle transformed for this dealership.

In addition, this custom motorcycle meant for the Triumph dealership the opening of a new section of sale of motorcycles transformed by LDK, so it must be the flagship … and the “Copper Boss” was the result.

The manufacturing process of this Triumph Bonneville Scrambler

They practically left the owner of LDK, full freedom to do what he wanted with the motorcycle and only gave him a note: “a motorcycle Street tracker or Scrambler but with very urban airs”.

And Fran Manen had it very clear: nothing of the typical black, gray or brown colors, nothing of heat wrap tape in the exhausts, nothing of long table seat, nothing of arc at the end of the chassis and nothing of Firestone Champion Deluxe tires… Elements that apparently have become characteristic in most Triumph Cafe Racer or Scrambler when they are customized, whatever their style.

The elegant ivory color was the basis for the painting of this transformed motorcycle. But for being the famous British brand, he decided to combine ivory with a tone “British racing Green” that resulted in a somewhat lighter but original green of Triumph motorcycles.

Finally, it was necessary to give the striking and lively touch, as well as vintage: the aged copper color was decisive for it. Because it was the first commission, the number “one” was placed and from there, the project began to be shaped.

A handcrafted fuel tank was completely incorporated for this Scrambler motorcycle. The entire rear section was made of metal with a somewhat different style than what we are used to seeing. The seat and its upholstery was entirely hand made for this motorcycle.

In addition, many other modifications and small details were made, such as the rear turn signals integrated within the motorcycle’s own chassis bars. The most important were the details and immaculate finishes, some outstanding details even in the last screw of the motorcycle.

This motorcycle was presented in Belgium at the dealership Triumph Wevelgem to the brand and the general public. Its good reception has caused a before and after in the concept of modification of these motorcycles.

“GOLDFINGER”

“GOLDFINGER”

This Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Cafe Racer, on a motorcycle transformed in the Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga by Lord Drake Kustoms. But it could have been the very custom motorcycle of James Bond 007; hence its name “GOLDFINGER”.

Sportster Goldfinger

The model used to build this Cafe Racer motorcycle has been a Sportster 883 R from 2005. The first thing that has been done is to install a Cafe Racer fuel tank. This tank originally belonged to a Sportster 1200 custom, and in LDK we have modified it especially on the sides to give it the Cafe Racer look.

Transforming this Sportster Cafe Racer

 Cafe Racer rear tail and spoiler Sportster is fiber and the seat is manufactured using traditional methods and has been upholstered in perforated leather to give a more racing. The exhaust has been handcrafted using the original Harley Davidson Sportster manifolds.

An air filter Roland Sand Designs  for Sportster models, intermittent kellerman, Lighthouse Harley Davidson V-Rod, conversion kit chain Sportster, air springs, handlebars and many other details are what give image to this beautiful and elegant Sportster Cafe Racer.

The painting and airbrushing of motorcycles like this must be something very elegant and simple. In this case we have used a pearly white color combined with gloss black parts that have been highlighted with pinstriping gold and the airbrushing of emblems in the same color on the sides of the custom fuel tank.

For its part, Metalcolors has done a great job of painting powder coating gold and black on the rims, various engine parts, seatposts, fork, etc.

Sportster Goldfinger

Shortly after the transformation of this Sportster Cafe Racer and after testing it on the road, its owner told Fran Manen that he was delighted with this custom motorcycle, but wanted even more speed, so they put it back in the LDK Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga to install a kit for Sportster 1200cc.

The “BULTRACKER 40” is a “Montesa” tribute Sportster 883 scrambler, built in the Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga by Lord Drake Kustoms. It is probably one of the most beautiful and elegant Harley scramblers ever seen.

At LDK, it was clear to us that we must continue to innovate in the world of transformed Harley Davidson. Furthermore, in the custom workshop in Spain, where it seemed that only the typical motorcycle customizations consisting of Harley transformations were made into bobber motorcycles or custom motorcycles of the most traditional style.

Therefore, after making the scrambler bike tribute to Bultaco with a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 base, Fran Manen decided to pay tribute to the other great Spanish motorcycle brand “Montesa”. We don’t care if Harley custom or Japanese cafe racer motorcycles are in fashion.

Some details about this “Bultracker” sportster 833 scrambler

The colors of this transformed Sportster 883 scrambler were typical of “Montesa” motorcycles from the 70s: Red in the fuel tank of a custom Sportster that was completely modified and in other parts of the motorcycle. The side numbers are made by hand and in yellow metal.

And thanks to the metal chrome service we have, we were able to install these chrome fenders made by LDK. All this was accompanied by a Roland Sands exhaust pipe for 2-in-1 Sportster, an air filter for Harley “Drag” type, an inch BMX handlebar, headlight grille and many other elements such as scrambler tires.

In addition, 80-spoke wheels were installed on this custom Sportster and braking was improved; since a front double disc system was installed from a Harley Davidson Sportster 883 R.

This Sportster scrambler, built in our Harley custom workshop in Malaga, ended up (thanks to our Motorcycle Transport service) in the city of Conglenton (England) where its current owner, Jonathan, rolls it along its beautiful roads.

“BONNEVILLE BRAT”

“BONNEVILLE BRAT”

This Triumph Bonneville 2003 arrived at LDK’s motorcycle transformation workshop in deplorable conditions. It went from being a veritable scrap heap to a beautiful Triumph Bonneville Brat with airs Cafe Racer and a great job of customization and restoration.

Luke, the owner of this Bonneville Brat, brought us the bike a few months before and told Fran Manen (owner of Lord Drake Kustoms), that despite the bike being in such a poor state of repair, he wanted to get it back, as it was a classic motorcycle that his father had left him.

Both of them thought that, since it had to be completely restored, it would be good to also make it something special, a Triumph Cafe Racer or something like that and from this idea this emerged Brat-style motorcycle.

Usually the Bonneville Cafe Racer tend to have a too pure and classic style, so it was decided on this motorcycle that it was not a Cafe Racer bike typical with Clubman handlebars, rear seat, etc.

For the color of the paint on this bike, its owner was very clear: All black and some small details in gold. The first thing we did was disassemble it completely and clean it up by sandblasting (with glass microspheres), to recover the healthy and original metal in all its parts.

Once the process of sandblasting was finished, other modifications for this motorcycle was necessary were carried out and finally the powder coating of the chassis, tires and other elements such as the engine, footrests, etc.

Triumph Bonneville Brat

Little by little, this transformed motorcycle that had an almost unrecoverable base, began to take shape in the Cafe Racer workshop of Lord Drake Kustoms, until finally, and above all, after a long work of motorcycle restoration, came to light this beautiful Triumph Bonneville Cafe Racer Brat.
