“TRENDING TOPIC”

“TRENDING TOPIC”

A few months ago, David contacted Lord Drake Kustoms in his workshop Harley Davidson in Malaga. There he told them his ideas to transform a motorcycle Harley Davidson Softail Deuce FXSTD that he had just acquired in a Harley Bobber.

Harley Bobber "Trending Topic"

A Harley Bobber “Trending Topic”

Coincidentally, at that time, David was about to present a new fashion and accessories brand called “Trending Topic”

Fran Manen (owner of LDK) and David had a meeting at the LDK motorcycle customization workshop, where it was clear that the motorcycle should be something different. He wanted to use it as a corporate image, so he didn’t want the typical thing seen so far with the Softail Deuce.

Fran Manen was very excited about the idea because among other reasons, the Softail Deuce is his Harley favorite and it was the first Harley he had and with which he started in the world of motorcycle customization and transformation.

The owner of “Trending Topic” said that he wanted a motorcycle with a Sportster peanut-type fuel tank. The rear should keep the Harley tire original lenticular (which characterizes the Deuce models) and should have the logo of its brand (a Hashtag).

Harley Bobber "Trending Topic"

From that base, Fran began working on the project. After several tests, it was determined that the motorcycle’s paint should be all black, like a suit. The exception would be the gas tank that would go white like the shirt that usually accompanies a black suit.

The process of adapting the Harley Softail Deuce in a Harley Bobber

It began by modifying and adapting a type tank Sportster “Peanut”, replace the ignition and contact and replace the handlebar with a new model 1” drag bar that would give width to the motorcycle.

Afterward, the rear of the Softail chassis was modified and was manufactured with Bobber-type rear fender and the integrated LED pilot. The floating seat without springs with the brand “Trending Topic” was inserted in the back.

Many other details were added, such as the front wheel of big spokes for Harley Davidson or the digital motor speedometer mini motogadget. In addition, three elements that would break with the typical Bobber-look were incorporated in the front of the motorcycle: a Harley dome, a keel-spoiler and a front grille.

Harley Bobber "Trending Topic"

The result, a motorcycle that, like the brand it represents, is giving and will give a lot to talk about. Wherever it goes, it becomes the “Trending Topic” of the event. It doesn’t matter if they are shirt cufflinks, a tie or this Harley Davidson transformed into our custom workshop.

Finally, all the reforms carried out in this legalized Harley Davidson were passed through our service of Homologation of transformed motorcycles.

Harley Bobber "Trending Topic"

From Lord Drake Kustoms, we want to thank David and the entire “Trending Topic” team for the trust placed in us and especially for how nice it has been to work with them on this project. Thank you very much, good luck and above all, that you were “Trending Topic” for a long time!

“SOULBREAKER”

“SOULBREAKER”

Text: Fran Manen

Many people told the owner of Lord Drake Kustoms, Fran Manen, that it was impossible to make a Harley Davidson Scrambler something more radical. And here is the answer, with this spectacular Sportster Scrambler that has been a motorcycle transformed entirely in the LDK Harley and custom workshop in Malaga (Spain).

Soulbreaker

As always, we have two rules in Lord Drake Kustoms to which we remain loyal: “Always make different bikes” and “Nothing is impossible”. This motorcycle is proof of that. We are tired of always seeing the same custom bikes and especially the same Harley Davidson custom.

The first of a long list of Harley Davidson Scrambler

“Soulbreaker” was the first of a series of scrambler motorcycles with base Harley Davidson Sportster, which was customized to inaugurate our branch in Europe, specifically a new motorcycle transformation workshop in Malaga.

Soulbreaker

This Sportster Scrambler has been in the third position in the category “modified Sportster”, in the Harley Davidson European Custom Bike Show held in St. Tropez (France).

Currently, this custom motorcycle with scrambler-style and seal LDK, circulates on the roads of Austria from the hands of its new owner, Mario, a man who loves the transformed Harley and who fell in love with this Harley Scrambler (or Street Tracker, according to opinions of someone, when he saw it live.

BMW R1100S Cafe Racer

BMW R1100S Cafe Racer

Customizing a motorcycle like this BMW R1100S Cafe Racer has been a challenge for our BMW motorcycle transformation and customization workshop in Spain, because this BMW motorcycle is not originally a very suitable motorcycle to customize due to its fuel tank or suspension system lead.

Right side view

The process of modifying this bmw r1100s

We had already modified some BMW R1100S before, but this time we wanted to go further in our Cafe Racer workshop in Malaga and therefore we thought about eliminating the big problem that this motorcycle has: its large fuel tank. So the first thing we did at Lord Drake Kustoms was to disassemble the entire body of the bike and of course the huge fuel tank.

Front left side view

Then we began to test that other types of tanks could come in handy and we opted to test with a gasoline tank from a BMW K100… and that was the solution. Fran Manen had it clear, that was the tank that had to be adapted. So after a long and difficult work of modification of the chassis, relocation of electrical systems, control units, ABS, etc; we were able to get the tank to fit in its correct position.

Gas tank detail

From that point on, the following was to modify and manufacture a cafe racer-style subframe and the base of the seat, we lowered the front suspension and installed a7-inch motorcycle headlight to try to cover the maximum front surface that is usually very empty because of the BMW suspension system that this model has.

Seat and tail detail
Front headlight detail

The change was incredible, now this custom BMW motorcycle looked like something else, a mix between a BMW R for the engine with the Boxer cylinders and a BMW K for the gas tank.

Right side rear view

From there, we manufacture the seat, the license plate bracket, the exhaust with Spark tail, the side covers under the tank to close gaps, the rear fender, the removable rear tail and the headlight brackets to name a few of the parts that They have been handcrafted in our custom workshop in Spain.

Tail detail and license plate holder

In the cafe racer accessories and parts store “Customiza Tu Moto” we have acquired the Kellerman turn signals for handlebars, the Motogadget Mini odometer, the Spark tailpipe, the rear LED indicators and light and many other accessories.

The paint job has been a breeze. The entire bike is matte black with the exception of the shock absorber spring that has been painted green. The paint job of most of the parts of this cafe racer motorcycle has been done with electrostatic powder paint in the oven (powdercoating) in the company Metal Colors.

Finally, we have carried out the homologation of all the reforms made to this BMW R1100S Cafe Racer motorcycle with our own Homologation service of motorcycle reforms in Spain.

“SIXTY NINE”

“SIXTY NINE”

Because of its name “69” and the position it represents, this is the bike transformed more sexual than Lord Drake Kustoms has customized in his Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga to date. A Sportster Bobber.

Sixty-Nine HD Sportster Bobber

An elegant and striking Harley Sportster Bobber

In addition, this Harley transformed in Malaga (Spain) is very attractive because it is a custom motorcycle that, as it was being built, seemed more daring and sexy. Also something rampant and radical, but elegant.

This Sportster Bobber with very casual style and for all audiences (young and less young, bikers and non-bikers) is a perfect custom motorcycle to ride on any street in the most Californian style. While people look at you in your path. With a powerful sound and great joy of walking.

Sixty-Nine HD Sportster Bobber

The “sixty-nine” also has a somewhat radical stance that encourages you to twist the accelerator at the entrance of a highway. It is simply the “69”… sometimes it relaxes you, other times it takes you to maximum excitement!

The secret of this Sportster Bobber “69” is its color scheme

What was clear was that something striking and simple at the same time was sought. That’s why when painting this Harley Davidson, the striking white was combined with the elegant black. In addition, he put a touch of union between both colors in gold (aged) without abusing this color so as not to fall on a vulgar motorcycle.

This motorcycle has been in the second position in the “Sportster” category of the Harley Davidson European Custom Bike Show  “Eurofestival” held in 2014 in Saint Tropez (France).

Sixty-Nine St Tropez

This motorcycle Sportster Bobber-style, with a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 base, is the first of a series of which several units have already been made in the LDK Harley and custom workshop in Malaga. Fran Manen, the owner of the brand, has also customized two bikes of this series at his Harley workshop in Miami.

TRIUMPH “SCRAMBLER T100”

TRIUMPH “SCRAMBLER T100”

Named Triumph “Scrambler T100”, this bike has this name because when customizing it we have chosen a Bonneville T100 base and we have given it the air of a scrambler motorcycle. As a final result, this transformed Triumph Bonneville that has remained very elegant and discreet despite the changes made in Lord Drake Kustoms’ motorcycle customization workshop in Malaga.

Triumph Bonneville T100 Scrambler

As specialists in modification of Triumph motorcycles in Spain and Miami that we are, this modified motorcycle has not presented major problems when carrying out the work. The client wanted a simple customization that did not lose the Triumph essence, which is why we have left many significant pieces of the model such as the original watches, the tank emblems, etc.

Gasoline tank and front detail

This transformed Triumph is a reflection of something we often say to our customers: “customize your motorcycle, but in an intelligent way and when in doubt in a simple way, since sometimes less is more. To customize your motorcycle, you do not need to spend making changes without sense or placing many custom parts without any logic .”

We’ve fitted a new Biltwell tracker handlebar, turn signals, Biltwell grips and mirrors. We have also modified the suspensions by replacing the rear shock absorbers and modifying the front fork a bit and we have placed a grille for headlight. We have cut the front fender and put some rubber springs on the fork.

Right side rear view

We have also modified the subframe, we have manufactured a custom made seat for a scrambler or brat motorcycle and we have installed a new custom made license plate holder with side arm. Finally some universal motorcycle exhaust tails with retro airs and Continetal TKC 80 tires.

TRIUMPH “BLACKTRACKER”

TRIUMPH “BLACKTRACKER”

Originally, this transformed motorcycle was a Triumph Bonneville T100 that Lord Drake Kustoms has customized at his Miami motorcycle workshop to make into a true Triumph Scrambler.

Triumph Scrambler Blacktracker

This motorcycle was not the first Triumph Bonneville that we worked; It was the third we customized… and also, all for the same customer who is a lover of motorcycles from the prestigious English brand and Scrambler motorcycles. It was built in Miami, although shortly thereafter it was shipped to Hollywood, Los Angeles, where its owner currently resides.

Customizing this Triumph Scrambler “Blacktracker”

Fran Manen and his brand LDK did a great artisan job in transforming this bike; The fuel tank, the entire Scrambler-style rear seat, and the front seat and fender were manually constructed of metal. The exhaust British Customs and other details such as shock absorbers gave this a very special Scrambler bike touch.

Triumph Scrambler Blacktracker
Triumph Scrambler Blacktracker

The painting and airbrushing on this bike has been very simple … no airbrushing or graphics and color … all gloss black. No Triumph emblems or side numbers; simply black.

The transformation of motorcycles like this, is usually always very similar and with the same type of elements and aspects, but this time this customized Triumph turned out to be totally different from everything seen so far.

Triumph Scrambler Blacktracker

Lord Drake Kustoms always tries to do different and original things on his custom bikes and above all he does not want his works to be clones of the rest of Cafe racer or Scrambler bikes that exist in the market; and even less when it comes to motorcycles that are for a market as exclusive as Miami or Los Angeles.

SPRINGER “SDT”

SPRINGER “SDT”

Harley-Davidson Softail Springer Classic FLSTSCI of the year 2005. A custom motorcycle “Old School”… really. Built by Lord Drake Kustoms in his custom Harley workshop in Miami (USA).

Many friends and clients asked Fran Manen: “Do you only build Cafe Racer motorcycles?”, “Are you quitting working with Harley?” or “We only see you working lately with Triumph motorcycles“.

Well, here is the response of the owner of Lord Drake Kustoms to all those questions: A custom Bobber motorcycle, Old School! A real iron! An authentic Harley, American with character! A Softail Springer Classic… The “Springer SDT Vintage”.

Springer SDT Vintage

This motorcycle customized in the motorcycle workshop of Lord Drake Kustoms in Miami (USA), has a detail to highlight, was commissioned by a regular customer of Fran Manen: “SDT Designs“. Which collaborated with LDK to result in this powerful Harley Old School. “SDT” are the initials of the name of the owner of the motorcycle transformed on this occasion.

The process of transforming this Softail Springer Classic

I didn’t want to use the typical and cheap Springer Aftermarket forks, so it was clear, you had to start with a very simple base to choose from… a Harley Softail. And for the result, to be more radical and authentic, a Softail Springer Classic.

The first thing was to undress the Harley Softail chassis to the point of removing the oil tank along with all the original engine and transmission covers of the Harley Twin Cam. We had to cut the entire rear of the chassis to start shaping this beauty.

The rear fender, the custom oil tank for Harley, in addition to all the connections, the base of the fuel tank, the base and the entire complete seat, the handlebars and the exhaust pipes, all were manufactured by Lord Drake Kustoms. He was also accompanied by a Sportster fuel tank type peanut which was also modified by LDK.

The rest of the engine and transmission covers of this Springer Softail were treated to move from the original chrome to the black textured powder coat. The finishes were very simple: pure steel with the rust that characterizes it and semi-gloss lacquer to protect it in fenders and fuel tank. It was also applied black powder coat with texture or gloss and red color to the rim of the tires.

The upholstery of the spring seat for this Harley was made with the same skin that uses Ferrari for the interior panels and consoles of its cars.

Springer SDT Vintage

We must not forget the essence and soul in this world of customization and transformation of motorcycles, where this trend comes from. And without “Harleys” and without “Old School”, today we probably wouldn’t know the term “Custom Bikes” and all that it represents today.

TRIUMPH “GUERRILLA”

TRIUMPH “GUERRILLA”

This custom motorcycle is made on a Triumph Scrambler at Lord Drake Kustoms motorcycle transformation workshop in Miami. A Scrambler motorcycle totally different from what has been seen so far.

Triumph Guerrilla a Scrambler motorcycle

Gerard is the owner of this custom bike, a good friend of Fran Manen, who has a large collection of Triumph bikes. This was the second Scrambler that we did to this client in our custom motorcycle workshop in Miami; and as always we had to follow some very clear ideas.

Modifications for this Scrambler motorcycle

The Scrambler fuel tank used, comes from a Yamaha XT from the 70s, and had to be modified and adapted to the chassis of this transformed motorcycle completely. The seat and the two fenders were handcrafted.

Triumph Guerrilla

The used exhausts are from the manufacturer British Customs and the Scrambler tires are from the Continental brand. In addition, air shocks were installed, a 7 ”headlight gave a very special touch to this Scrambler motorcycle.

Triumph Guerrilla

In the transformation of motorcycles of this style, the painting and airbrushing work is usually more elaborate, but on this Scrambler motorcycle, it has been quite simple again. Dark blue color combined with black. The seat is upholstered in natural leather with a cream tone.

Triumph Guerrilla
Triumph Guerrilla

This custom Triumph has nothing to do with the typical Triumph Cafe racer or Scrambler that have been made until now. You may like it or you may hate it… but something is clear: it is original and is built in the custom workshop of Lord Drake Kustoms in Miami.
