BMW R100 Springer “SURVIVOR”

BMW R100 Springer “SURVIVOR”

BMW R100 SPRINGER “SURVIVOR”

This BMW R100 springer cafe racer “SURVIVOR” that we present today is the first unit of a limited edition of 10 units that Lord Drake Kustoms has begun to manufacture in his cafe racer workshop and that has left the fans of the BMW cafe racer motorcycles without words.

A WORK OF ART ON TWO WHEELS

The idea was to create a piece of art on two wheels and above all a custom BMW R that had not been seen to date. It is well known to all lovers of the world of custom motorcycles, that the BMW R100 series are possibly the most demanded and customized cafe racer motorcycles in recent years, but if you look at the end, they all have the same patterns… and almost none of these BMW R have a Springer front end!

A VERY CAREFUL CUSTOMIZATION

After several months investigating Fran Manen started from the front end and the most radical way in a BMW R100 was to install a Springer fork (something that has practically not been seen to date in any BMW R cafe racer or scrambler) accompanied by a drum brake rim for a more classic touch.

Front view

Springer fork

The other great challenge and perhaps the most difficult thing in this cafe racer motorcycle with a very retro air, has been to create another rear suspenssion system and for this, the swingarm was modified, the subframe was eliminated and the chassis was modified so that they could be installed two shock absorbers under the seat.

The following is a clean handlebar without buttons with inverted levers, a Motogadget Speedometer and a very original and totally unique button panel. Another challenge has been to modify the cafe racer fuel tank to adapt it to the chassis and then create an electrical installation that is as hidden as possible.

The bobber-type leaf spring seatsupport for BMW R, the button panel located in front of the gas tank, the license plate holder, the battery box or the rear fender and their brackets have been handmade entirely.

CHROME AND BRASS

Brown leather, white powder paint and chrome plating combined with antiqued brass plating parts have colored this impressive BMW R with springer fork.

LIMITED EDITION

This BMW R100 springer cafe racer was originally a project that Fran Manen (Lord Drake Kustoms owner in Miami and Spain) planned to build in his cafe racer workshop in Miami(USA).

Unfortunately, in 2020 the COVID 19 arrived and Fran Manen was in Spain at that time, so due to the impossibility of traveling to the United States for a while, he decided to develop the project in his motorcycle transformation workshop in Málaga (Spain); since he (like everyone else) he didn´t know how long this situation was going to last and how long it would take to be able to travel again to Miami, his other city of residence and where his LDK brand is headquartered..

This bike is the first unit built from a limited edition of 10 units that Lord Drake Kustoms has put on sale and has been sold to a customer in Brazil. Units 2 and 3 are already sold and under construction (for clients in Madrid and Dubai). But units 4 to 10 are still available to be ordered and shipped worldwide.

SPORTSTER BOBBER GLOSSBLACK

This Sportster Bobber GLOSSBLACK is a new bobber motorcycle transformed in the Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga (Spain) of Lord Drake Kustoms.

Based on a 2007 LOW model

LDK owner Fran Manen designed this Sportster bobber on a 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster Low that had been in an accident. Its owner wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to repair the damage and keep it original; turn it into a single-seater bobber bike.

OTHER MODIFICATIONS

Victory Hammer

Right side view

This time we present a very exclusive custom motorcycle: A VICTORY HAMMER 8 BALL; since there are very few units of this American brand on the market and even fewer that have been modified. And this time we have done it in our motorcycle customization workshop in Spain.

Lord Drake Kustoms does not usually say “NO” and this time we have shown it with the customization of this Victory Hammer 8 Ball that his client was about to sell because he thought that it could not be modified or transformed into something more attractive.

Harley Davidson Breakout

Harley Davidson Breakout

“Customize your Harley Davidson Breakout motorcycle and give it a new look at Lord Drake Kustoms’ specialized Harley Davidson workshop in Malaga”…. With this phrase is how the history of this custom motorcycle begins in our motorcycle transformation workshop in Spain.

Harley Davidson Breakout by Lord Drake Kustoms

And we did that!… Francisco Alí Manén got down to work and designed a custom motorcycle with some changes that will further highlight the qualities of this Softail Breakout with a 103 engine, to give it a new, more brutal air without losing its essence.

Side view

How to transform this Harley Davidson Breakout

We started with the transformation of a Harley Davidson that was totally original and which we have turned into a customized Harley Davidson in a very elegant and imposing way at the same time. The original model was a Softail Breakout, so the main thing was the custom rims and the Harley 240 rear wheel kit and we had it.

Right side rear view

The first thing was to remove the seat and the original Harley fenders, as well as remove the entire subframe. Next, we handcrafted a new rear fender to house a new wider rear tire (250) from Avon tires and a single-seater seat; and to give it the desired silhouette, we installed an air suspension for Harley Davidson from the Legend Air brand.

To finish the rear and leave the wheel and rear fender as clean as possible, we installed the license plate on one side with a handmade license plate holder and installed micro turn signals and led lights 3: 1 Kellerman Atto. Many of the custom parts we have bought in the motorcycle accessories store “customiza tu moto”.

Mini turn signal detail

Finally, we installed some Vance & Hines Big Radius exhaust pipes and an S&S air filterwith double inlet and later we did the Harley remapping with DIAG4BIKE. At the front there have not been many changes, a new, smaller handcrafted front fender, LED indicators integrated in the hand controls, original Harley Davidson handlebars and some other details such as the Avon grips. Arlen Ness gas cap.

Front view

The painting has been easy as the original color has been kept, matt gray, which has been combined with elements and details in chrome or black.

The result is here: An impressive Harley Davidson Softail Breakout with the custom touch of Lord Drake Kustoms.

BMW R100 SCRAMBLER TWO

BMW R100 SCRAMBLER TWO

The BMW R100 SCRAMBLER TWO, is another of the works of customization and modification of a BMW R that we have done in our workshop specializing in BMW motorbikes transformations in Malaga (Spain).

TWO-SEATER SEAT

This bike came into the hands of Francisco Alí Manén (owner of Lord Drake Kustoms) from a customer in Cantabria, who initially wanted to make a cafe racer or single-seater scrambler, but finally opted for one with a seat for two people.

Finally this legendary BMW R100 has become a beautiful scrambler motorcycle beautiful and suitable for riding the rider and his passenger without losing the touch of a customized motorcycle It has been completely overhauled and looks very elegant and aggressive at the same time; due to the combination of the aged metal finish of the fuel tank with the brown of the seat.

MODIFICATIONS

This custom BMW has been completely disassembled, sandblasted and then powder coated with electrostatic powder coating. The front suspension was then modified and the two-seater scrambler subframe for BMW R was produced.

A Biltwell tracker handlebar positioned downwards and Harley Davidson shock absorbers formed the frame of this BMW R scrambler.

On this BMW R100 scrambler two, the seat base has been manufactured and then upholstered in brown with rhomboids and a number plate holder by hand. The front mudguard has also been shortened and shorter BMW R exhaust tailpipes have been fitted along with the typical black heat tape on the tailpipes.

LED indicators, Motogadget mini digital odometer, Biltwell grips, mirrors and other details such as the ignition key on the side or the air handles, have completed the customisation work of a scrambler bike.

Sportster 48 Cafe Racer

Sportster 48 Cafe Racer

This Harley Davidson Sportster 48 cafe racer transformed in the Harley Davidson workshop in Spain owned by Lord Drake Kustoms has been commissioned by a client who already had a Sportster 48 Bobber transformed by us.

Vista lateral derecha

Cafe racer motorcycles tend to use Japanese motorcycles as a base more than Harley Davidson, but this does not mean that we cannot customize a cafe racer motorbike with a Sportster base from the legendary American brand. Precisely and although LDK is not an official Harley Davidson dealer in Malaga, we are specialists in this brand of custom motorcycles both for transforming them and for their repair and maintenance.

Front Right Side View

Going back to this Sportster cafe racer, the first thing he did Fran Manen (owner of Lord Drake Kustoms) It was to decide what type of custom bike it was going to be … and he was clear about it: It had to preserve the spirit of a Sportster Forty Eight and at the same time be a cafe racer of the purest classic style.

Front right side view

To achieve this we have kept the tiresand the original Sportster 48 tank and from there we have started to customize and transform a motorcycle in cafe racer style with very basic elements: Cafe racer tail with single seat and semi-handlebars, accompanied by other parts for custom bikes. that we have acquired in the online store of accessories and parts for motorcycles: Customize your Motorcycle.

Gas Tank
Rear tail and illustration

Lord Drake Kustoms is a distributor of Ohlins shock absorbers in Spain, that is why we have chosen to install a pair of this brand to give it the correct height and get the height of the Roland Sands Design cafe racer tail to match the Sportster 48 fuel tank, after have trimmed and modified the entire rear and subframe of a custom bike in a very elegant way .

Odometer detail

Some Vance and Hines short shots, an air filter for Harley Rough Crafts, a spoiler keel for Sportster, a 4.75-inch motorcycle headlight grille, handmade license plate holder for Sportster, LED turn signals and mirrors on the grips along with many others. Custom accessories have shaped this Sportster cafe racer.

Regarding the finish, we have respected the paint and graphics of the Harley Davidson special edition of the fuel tank and so that it does not lose prominence, we have painted the rest of the motorcycle in black except for the number 48 on the tail and some details in white such as the rim of the headlight or the grilles of the side covers that, together with other pieces, have been painted with electrostatic powder paint in the oven by the Metal Colors company.

LORD DRAKE KUSTOMS TO CUSTOMIZE A HARLEY FOR THE OLIVARES FOUNDATION

LORD DRAKE KUSTOMS TO CUSTOMIZE A HARLEY FOR THE OLIVARES FOUNDATION

The Olivares Foundation will have a Harley motorcycle customized by Lord Drake Kustoms to help in their fight against childhood cancer.

This post that we publish today is not to talk about customizing a motorcycle. It is a post aimed at all of you who are parents, uncles, grandparents … or simply think that children are the essence of life.

Today has been a very big day for Francisco Alí Manén and our company Lord Drake Kustoms, because after several months we have managed to make the start of a GREAT PROJECT a reality…. probably one of the most important projects that we will do in our career both personally and professionally… and also in Malaga where we have one of our motorcycle transformation workshops.

Fran Manen and the president of the Olivares Foundation

It is not about transforming a Harley Davidson for a world championship, nor about winning a prize, nor about making a famous motorcycle … it is something much simpler and that cannot be paid with money or with prizes … “The best and most beautiful of this life cannot be seen or touched, it must be felt with the heart”

Spiderman at the Olivares Foundation

Almost a year ago in the midst of a pandemic, a friend and client (thank you David) told us about the difficulties that the OLIVARES FOUNDATION dedicated to supporting children with cancer and sponsored by singer Pablo Alborán and to study the possibility of seeing some way of collaborating with them and meeting Andrés Olivares, their president and founder.

Pablo Alborán is a sponsor of the Olivares Foundation

A few days later we met, talked and after learning about the history of the foundation and, above all, knowing how hard the day-to-day life of these children with cancer and their families can be, we shaped a campaign that begins today.

Today finally, Fran Manen shook hands with Andrés Olivares, president and founder of the Olivares Foundation to kick off a project in which we are going to customize a unique motorcycle, but not unique because of the motorcycle itself, not because it is a Harley or because it has very nice rims … It will be a unique custom motorcycle for what it is going to represent.

Andrés Olivares and Fran Manen

This bike, once finished, will be raffled off and will be the flagship of a great campaign of events that we are going to carry out jointly by the “Olivares Foundation” and our company “Lord Drake Kustoms”.

All the funds raised in the raffle for this customized Harley Davidson and from the rest of the activities will be donated entirely to the foundation, so that they can continue their work to support children with cancer and their families.

A foundation full of Heroes

In our workshopswe have a giant poster of a man almost flying on a motorcycle that says: “4 wheels move the body … 2 wheels move the soul!” … I hope that the two wheels of this motorcycle that we are going to make move the souls of many people and we manage to raise as much money as possible to help these great fighters who take care of our children … Yes, we say ours, it is a problem that you it can touch you, me or anyone….

So fasten your seat belts because we are going to take off in this project transforming and modifying an impressive motorcycle, which we hope will arouse the admiration of everyone and above all that it touches the soul so that we make sure that children suffering from cancer do not lose their childhood.

Fran Manen

PS: Before starting the project, we want to thank Andrés Olivares, Paula and the rest of the Fundación Olivares team for the trust you have placed in us, for the great work and good you do … and above all, MANY THANK YOU for everything you have taught us during the visit to your facilities….

What we have seen today cannot be seen with the eyes… it can only be seen with the heart!
