A new BMW R80 scrambler is the custom bike that Lord Drake Kustoms has transformed in his cafe racer workshop in Spain and that we present in this post.
The customization of a cafe racer motorcycle should always start with the choice of a good motorcycle to transform; and in this case this BMW R80 was ideal, because it was in excellent condition.
The first thing that was done was to completely disassemble this R80 and order the cafe racer parts and accessories that we were going to need at the custom accessories store “Customize your motorcycle”.
Next, we began to manufacture the subframe and cafe racer seat for BMW in an artisanal way. We modified the front suspension, trimmed the front fender, and installed a new Biltwell tracker handlebar.
The wheels, fork bottles and other parts were sent to powdercoating Metal Colors company for painting with a gloss black electrostatic powder paint.
A new YSS monoshock for the BMW R8, a 7-inch cafe racer headlight, an auxiliary headlamp with a yellow lens, Biltwell mirrors, Motogadget M-Blaze turn signals on the grips and the Motogadget Tiny odometer, were some of the components that shape this motorcycle customized.
Cafe racer exhaust tails and carburettors with KN air filters are other pieces to highlight. The seat has been upholstered in brown and the gloss black fuel tank accompanied by a monza-style fuel capfor BMW gives this bike a very elegant look.
The final touch to give this completely transformed bike a BMW scrambler look are the Continetal TKC80 motorcycle scrambler tires.
The result is a BMW R80 more scrambler than cafe racer, customized in a motorcycle transformation workshop in Malaga (Spain) where the most important thing is the soul of the motorcycles and the satisfaction of the customers.
This BMW K100 scrambler stands out as a custom motorcycle in Lord Drake Kustoms cafe racer workshopin Spain for a customer who did not want the typical Cafe Racer motorcycle transformation. He wanted a “Flying brick” Scrambler.
The first thing that Fran Manen did was check the mechanical condition, then our team of mechanics specialized in BMW motorcycles, put it into readiness and we started the scrambler modification work.
We started with the disassembly of this BMW K100, then we installed scrambler motorcycle tires such as the Continental TKC80, as wide as possible and a scrambler handlebar. Then we continue with the trimming and modification of the chassis of this motorcycle, to house a two-seater seat for this BMW K100 made to measure.
Many of the components of this custom motorcycle were supplied by our supplier of parts and accessories for cafe racer and custom motorcycles “Customiza tu moto”; including: motogadget tiny speedo, YSS air cylinder shock for BMW, strong turn signals, grips, mirrors, taillight, etc.
The front suspension was modified and the cafe racer-style license plate bracket was handcrafted. The side covers with chrome grilles were also manufactured for this transformed scramblery style bike. The tailpipe was modified by installing a new cafe racer tailpipe which has given thisBMW “Flying brick” a beautiful sound.
Electrostaticpowder coatingwas applied by metalcolorsin matt black to many parts of this customized BMW, and a matt graphite gray was chosen for the fuel tank.
Finally, all the reforms carried out in this “Flying brick scrambler” have been legalized with our own homologation service for transformed and customized motorcycles.
The third motorcycle for the Siebla Group Harley Davidson store in Malaga was a challenge since it was not just any motorcycle transformation, as this customized motorcycle was to compete in the Battle of the Kings II.
And for us it was an honor that the official Harley Davidson dealer in Malaga placed his trust in us for this project.
In the initial meeting with the manager of the Harley Davidson store in Malaga for this project; They told us that they wanted Lord Drake Kustoms to modify a brand-new Harley Davidson Iron 883 to compete in the prestigious custom bike show “Battle of the Kings” in 2016.
This motorcycle would be the one represent the Harley dealership in Malaga in the prestigious bike show and that would compete with the rest of the official Harley Davidson dealers in Spain.
At first, Francisco Alí Manén let his imagination fly, thinking of doing something very radical and striking; but quickly had to think of something flashy but not very radical and low cost.
The reason for this was that one of the conditions for participating was that a very limited budget could not be exceeded and that the vast majority of the parts had to be from the Harley Davidson brand itself.
These two factors and above all the economic budget, would make us limit ourselves to doing a less impressive custom motorcycle job than we really would have wanted at LDK.
Unfortunately with time and especially when the day of the competition arrived, we could see that very few Harley Davidson dealers in Spain had respected the rules of budgets and parts.
In any case, both the members of the Siebla Group and ourselves were very happy with the result of the “SIEBLA RACER”, a beautiful Sportster Iron 883 with a very classic cafe racer style.
A motorcycle transformation carried out on a Harley Iron 883 and finished with a super striking paint in fire red, gold and black, among many other details.
We use the Harley Davidson brand of parts and accessories, for the vast majority of components and these were accompanied by some pieces made by hand.
This custom Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider FXDL converted to Cafe Racer motorcycle by Lord Drake Kustoms in his custom workshop in Miami, is probably one of the first Harley Cafe Racer with Twin Cam engine.
Since he arrived in the Americas in 2009, the founder and owner of Lord Drake Kustoms, the Malaga-born Fran Manen, was determined to make a transformed motorcycle somewhat different and that’s why he opted for the model Dyna Low Rider by Harley Davidson.
This model is one of the motorcycles of the range Harley less valued in the United States. It was after doing several Cafe Racer motorcycles with Sportster bases when he decided to make one with a Big Twin engine; and what a better base than a Dyna, a Low Rider in this case.
He also took the opportunity to pay tribute to one of his favorite characters from World War I; the German aviator Manfred von Richthofen and of course his favorite Spanish rock band of all time, both known as Red Baron!
People think that he was crazy when he told his clients and friends that he was doing a Cafe Racer motorcycle with a Harley Davidson Big Twin model, but in the end, he succeeded. As a result, the “Red Baron” has a powerful Twin Cam A (1,450cc) engine, which gave it a bit more power with a 58mm S&S carburetor and an S&S air filter.
This Dyna Cafe Racer is possibly one of the first Cafe Racer Big Twin in the United States and perhaps in the world. By the way, the number 80 of the side plates, is the number of planes that the Red Baron shot down in combat.
The entire metal back was manufactured by hand, including the seat. The front suspension bars were modified and longer air cushions were placed. All this seasoned with a series of details, such as the transparent engine covers and many more that gave life to the new machine.
The first fight of the Red Baron was just the day after leaving for the first time the Harley Davidson workshop of Lord Drake Kustoms in Miami. In one of the most prestigious Custom Bike Shows in the USA, the Rat’s Hole; in this case in which it is celebrated in Daytona Bike Week.
And the result could not be better. Piloted by its builder, Fran Manen, he won first prize in the Cafe Racer category.

The first Yamaha Scrambler coming out of the workshop customizing motorcycles LDK in Spain. On this occasion, we have not chosen a Harley Davidson, nor a BMW or Triumph motorcycle.
This is a Yamaha Fazer 1998, yes, a naked from the late nineties turned into a Scrambler motorcycle with airs Street Tracker.
“I want to customize a motorcycle, which can be corporate and I want to do it with a Fazer 98.” This is what José (owner of Sixtino Design Labs) told Fran Manen of Lord Drake Kustoms. The customer was clear that he wanted something Scrambler, with taco wheels and the matte green fuel tank. From there, LDK had total freedom to build this project.
A transformed motorcycle, simple, but well made (less is more) and with very special details; as the rectangular motorcycle headlight and the mask, a touch that has given the motorcycle a lot of personality and with which we have also managed to escape the boredom of the typical 7-inch round headlights or the round headlights with grille.
The rear turn signals have been incorporated into the tubes of the subframe itself, once it was modified. The front and rear suspensions were modified to give a more stylized line to the project.
Regarding the finishes and the paint, this motorcycle has acquired a green military-type tank, with the matte black predominantly in the rest. The brown seat and the detail of the light tinted in yellow have made this motorcycle a very attractive combination that is surprising to people who see it in person. Its own creators did not expect this Scrambler result with a motorcycle like the Yamaha Fazer.
On the Sixtino Design Labs website, there is a phrase that says: “We are passionate about combining innovative ideas with designs that please the eyes.” This phrase has been the basis for this project; It has been innovated using a motorcycle not very common until now in the world of motorcycle customization and has been combined with a design with bases Scrambler and Street Tracker style that has resulted in a Yamaha Scrambler very striking facing to the fans and people who have seen it.

The Sportster Bobber Vivir is a Harley Davidson XL883R customized with the air of a custom motorcycle with bobber style modifications and whose work we have carried out in our motorcycle transformation workshop in Spain.
Its name is due to the phrase “Living is Urgent”, which is a phrase that the owner of this Sportster 883 wanted Francisco Ali (owner of Lord Drake Kustoms) to incorporate somewhere on this custom Harley.
Keeping the gas tank with its original graphics and color on this Sportster R was another requirement that the owner of this Harley Bobber asked Fran Manen (LDK).
The most striking change has been the custom big spoke wheels for Harley Davidson, including an increase in size at the rear where a 200 rear wheel has been installed on this Harley Sportster.

After cutting the subframe and converting a Sportster bobber like this to a single-seater, we have continued with the manufacture of the two metal fenders, license plate support with side arm for Sportster 883 and the replacement of the handlebar with turrets with built-in odometer of the brand. Other details to highlight in the Sportster Bobber Vivir are turn signals on Motogadget grips, a small keel or spoiler, Vance & Hines shortshots exhausts, rough crafts air filter, Arlen Ness mirrors and advanced controls for Sportster.

Many of these parts and accessories for Harley Davidson have been purchased at the Customiza tu Moto company store.
The paint has kept the orange color of the Sportster R penaut tank (as well as the graphics) and the same color has been used on the keel. The rest is all in matte black with baked electrostatic powder paint applied by the Metal Colors company.
Finally, the homologation for Spain of the reforms carried out on a converted motorcycle such as the Sportster Bobber Vivir has been carried out.
“MARDANIS“, The Wolf King … and his BMW Cafe Racer with Scrambler wheels, just finished in the Lord Drake Kustoms motorcycle customization workshop. A strange mixture is reminiscent of a Cafe Racer motorcycle with Scrambler wheels and very sporty at the same time.
Sexual debauchery, Christian dresses, eating habits that included alcohol consumption … Mohamed Ibn Mardanis (nicknamed the Wolf King of Murcia) became famous on both sides of the border for his lifestyle and if he had reigned in these times he would probably have ridden this BMW R1200S just finished by Lord Drake Kustoms.
Fran Manen (owner of LDK), received a call from Fernando Cuello in which he commented that they had recommended Lord Drake Kustoms as a suitable company to make his dream come true: A BMW Cafe Racer brutal and unique.
At a later meeting, they finalized the project and finally it was decided to use as a base a BMW R1200S from 2007. Fernando’s indications to Fran Manen to make the motorcycle were clear and strict: matte black and orange, a brutal deposit, Cafe Racer style but with stud wheels and as simple as possible.
Work began and halfway through the almost finished tank, Francisco noticed that it was too large to paint everything in matt black and that some graphics should be added in orange. He called Fernando to explain and hence the idea of putting a name: “MARDANIS“.
Fernando knew that this custom motorcycle wasn’t very normal in the motorcycle transformation workshops. He was so excited about the project that he decided not to see the motorcycle until it was finished.
Finally, the big day arrived and “MARDANIS” would be presented to its owner for the first time. A group of friends and a spectacular party that would be held on the estate where the ruins of Mohamed Ibn Mardanis “The Wolf King” castle are located in Monteagudo (Murcia).
