YAMAHA XSR900 NEORACER

At Lord Drake Kustoms we continue to demonstrate that a modern motorcycle can be completely transformed without losing its essence, its reliability or its ability to legally circulate on the road.

Our new Yamaha XSR900 NeoRacer is a clear example: a build that combines Yamaha’s sporty DNA with the classic aesthetics of a Café Racer, while incorporating modern elements typical of the NeoRacer concept.

The Yamaha XSR900 is one of the best current platforms for this type of transformation. Its powerful three-cylinder engine, dynamic handling, and design allow you to create a radically different motorcycle without sacrificing the performance of a modern bike.

This time, our goal at Lord Drake Kustoms has been to create an XSR900 that is elegant, sporty and visually very clean, but above all a motorcycle designed to be used and enjoyed on the road.

One of the most important aspects of this project is that all the modifications made are approved, something fundamental when we are talking about a custom motorcycle intended to be driven normally.

Café Racer with its own personality

The transformation begins at the front, where we’ve aimed for a much more compact and sporty look. A new handlebar has been installed, along with new turn signals, a new front fairing, and a new headlight that completely change the XSR900’s character.

We have also replaced and modified the front fender, looking for a piece that is much more integrated into the overall lines of the build.

However, one of the modifications that most significantly impacts the final result of this custom Yamaha XSR900 is located at the rear. At Lord Drake Kustoms, we modified the subframe and the entire rear section, visually eliminating unnecessary bulk and achieving a much lighter and more aggressive silhouette.

On this new frame, we crafted a completely handmade seat, designed specifically for this motorcycle and then custom-upholstered. Its brown leather finish provides the perfect contrast to the colors used on the tank and directly evokes the spirit of classic Café Racers.

The rear is completed with a handcrafted license plate bracket, designed and manufactured specifically for this unit. The goal was to keep the rear as uncluttered as possible without sacrificing functionality or homologation.

Akrapovic exhaust and three-cylinder sound

To complement the sporty aesthetics of this NeoRacer, a truly exceptional exhaust system was essential. Therefore, we installed an Akrapovic exhaust, which, in addition to providing a much more racing-inspired look, allows us to further enjoy the distinctive sound of the Yamaha XSR900’s three-cylinder engine.

The dark finish of the Akrapovic fits perfectly with the engine, rims and other black components of the motorcycle, leaving the tank, seat and certain details to provide the contrast.

Pearl White and British Racing Green

Another key element of this build is undoubtedly the paint job.
For this Yamaha XSR900 NeoRacer, we’ve chosen a combination of pearlescent white and British Racing Green. The pearlescent white adds brightness and elegance, while the British Racing Green introduces that classic, sporty character inspired by some of the most iconic British motorcycles.

The green lines run along the top of the tank and blend with the dark details to create an aesthetic that changes depending on the angle from which the motorcycle is viewed. The brown seat completes the handcrafted, vintage look we needed to balance the overall design.

The result is not intended to be just another classic Café Racer. That’s precisely why we call it a NeoRacer: a motorcycle that takes influences from traditional Café Racers and translates them to a modern, powerful, and technologically far more advanced platform.

Lord Drake Kustoms’ opinions and reviews regarding this new creation are very clear: we believe that this Yamaha XSR900 perfectly represents the balance we are currently looking for between custom design, functionality, performance and homologation.

We didn’t want to build a motorcycle just to photograph or exhibit it. We wanted a motorcycle that would attract attention when stationary, but that would make even more sense when you start its engine and go for a ride.

The combination of the Akrapovic exhaust, the new riding position, the completely redesigned rear end, the handcrafted seat, the lighting, the small details and especially the combination of British Racing Green with pearly white have made it possible to create an XSR900 recognizable as a Yamaha, but completely different from a production unit.
