Despite the fact that fashion in the world of motorcycle transformation is lately dominated by Cafe Racer or Scrambler-style motorcycles built on BMW R or K bases; it seems that there is still space and followers for the Harley custom more traditional.
On this basis Sportster low, in Lord Drake Kustoms we have worked to make it a custom Harley simple but still being very elegant and aggressive.
How this Harley Davidson Sportster Bobber 883 has been customized
The rear height of the motorcycle has been lowered by placing burly dampers 10-inch and a single spring-type seat for Harley is placed.
A LED headlight accompanied by turn signals and also a rear light of Led´s are responsible for the lighting set of the motorcycle. The rear and front fenders have been manufactured and modified by hand.
And of course the entire motorcycle has been completely revised in our specialized workshop in Harley Davidson. For any custom workshop, in the works of transformation of Harley or any other motorcycle, it is very important the finish and the details.
And as for finishes; One of the main features of this motorcycle, is that it is completely black, its owner, asked us that absolutely everything was in black.
For this, several types of paint have been used depending on the piece. For example, powder coating for parts such as tires, chassis, engine covers, etc … Also for the ceramic layer for leaks, engine block or brake calipers…
Traditional body paint with gloss lacquer has been used for the bodywork. Highlight the work of powder coating, carried out by the companyMetalcolors.
Finally, the ITV (spanish vehicles technical service) has been carried out with its respective approval (homologation) of the entire transformation of the motorcycle.

This Harley Davidson 48, or simply Sportster 48 (forty eight), is one of the best selling models of this famous brand. In addition, it is the motorcycle with the most Bobber style of series that they sell.
But now it’s time to talk about this Sportster 48 Bobber.
A customer looking for a Harley Davidson workshop
Steven, the owner of this custom motorcycle, was looking for a specialized Harley Davidson workshop near Almuñecar (Spain), which is the city where he currently resides.
But the only thing he found in the area were the typical motorcycle workshop of all time and none of them specialized in Harley Davidson.
Finally, he decided to broaden his search and found a workshop specialized in motorcycle transformation in Malaga, our workshop, the workshop of Lord Drake Kustoms. Steven called us and came to introduce us his motorcycle, in this case a Harley Davidson Sportster Forty Eight.
At first, the owner of this Harley Sportster, doubted to turn this motorcycle into a Cafe Racer or a Bobber style. Finally he decided to transform his Harley into a motorcycle more Custom or Bobber.
The customization process of the Sportster 48
One of its conditions was that the rear should stand out for the presence of a wide tire. A wide wheel for the Sportster, which could be 240 or 200.
Finally, a 200 wheel was chosen not to be too exaggerated. Another request was that he didn’t want any kind of graphics or airbrushing on the motorcycle: “I wanted everything black, except the Harley gas tank that has to be in pure metal.”
Tailor-made Harley exhaust pipes painted with ceramic coat, handmade fenders, Rough Crafts air filter, led headlight, custom fuel tank, and many other details; They shaped this personalized Sportster with Old School style.
As for the finishes, Lord Drake Kustoms has a manufacturing and upholstery service for custom motorcycle seats, which has given a different and unique look to the spring seat for Sportster that has been installed.
The “Urbantracker” is one of the best Harley Davidson Scrambler or Street Tracker built in our Harley workshop in Malaga. A custom Harley completely unique, with its own style and without resembling any of the typical scrambler motorcycles seen to this day. A great job of Lord Drake Kustoms on a Harley Davidson Sportster 883 R basis.
How this Harley Scrambler was done
The first thing wanted Fran Manen (owner of LDK) was to get a Harley Davidson Scrambler valid for two people, without losing the charm of the motorcycles transformed previously in our customization workshop. And to achieve this, a back was made with space to house a second seat that was accompanied by a pair of Öhlins shock absorbers for Sportster.
Then we had to work the front of this custom motorcycle and in a KTM workshop in Malaga, we were able to get a WP inverted fork, which gave a radical look to the entire front, which was finished with a floating disc brake, a brake caliper for Brembo motorcycle and spoke wheels. Finally was the mask manufactured by hand in metal with the light incorporated.
Craft exhaust with Supertrapp tail for Harley, custom air filter and a large number of parts and details were added to the set to create this spectacular Harley Davidson Scrambler or perhaps Street Tracker with urban airs.
The final finishing touch in the transformation of this motorcycle was the paint and airbrushing work done on a base of broken white or light beige, which was accompanied by a handmade brown seat.
As result, this Harley Scrambler built and transformed fully in one of the best Harley and custom workshops in Spain, with service approval and ITV motorcycle you customized, upholstery, chrome, remapping Harley, repair and maintenance, etc.
And in 2019 it was driven by Fran Manen at the top of the podium of the Custom Bike Show of the European HOG Rally to collect the European runner-up prize in the category Harley Sportster.

“Seventy” is a custom Harley Davidson that in principle was going to be a Cafe Racer motorcycle (that was the idea of its owner David) and in the end it ended up being a Harley Davidson Scrambler with airs Flat track. The base bike was a Sportster XL 883 low.
From a Harley Cafe Racer to a Harley Scrambler with Flat Track brush strokes
This Harley Davidson Sportster 2005, we bought it in a motorcycle repair shopin Malaga from a friend of ours. So it came practically up to date and as new, without needing to do anything mechanically.
This Scrambler is the second motorcycle we make for this client in our Harley and custom workshop in Malaga. When David spoke with the owner of Lord Drake Kustoms (Fran Manen), he told him that he had the idea of getting a Sportster Cafe Racer to ride on the streets more comfortably than with his other Harley, (a Harley Davidson Softail Deuce customized also by LDK).
But due to the height of the client, they realized that a Cafe Racer was going to be a very uncomfortable one. They decided to do something with more height, like a Street Tracker or Scrambler motorcycle, so that its owner could circulate comfortably.
The inspiration in the Martini Racing Team of the late 70s
We decided to be inspired by the designs of the race cars and rallies of the 70s. “Martini” was one of the most famous sponsors at that time and gave his vehicles a particular stylish-look with its three-band color designs: blue, light blue and red.
The transformation of this motorcycle was done in record time, since once the project started we came up with the idea of presenting it to the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Buildingin 2018. The registration was about to end, so it was time to run and spend hours without sleep to finish the job on time.
Modifications made to the original Harley Davidson Sportster
A were installed handmade flat fiber track colin, fuel tank and front fenders made of metal. Radio tires, installed Vance and Hines RSD trucker leaksFor Sportster, K&N air filter, BMX type handlebar, etc.
And for the work of painting and airbrushing , graphics and colors were chosen that are reminiscent of those used by the “Martini” brand in many rally and competition cars.
This Harley Davidson Scrambler, built in our motorcycle workshop in Malaga, was in 6th position worldwide (modified Harley category)in the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building held in Germany in 2018.
After the world championship, all the reforms were made with our legalized Homologation and ITV service of motorcycles transformed in Malaga. Once approved, it was delivered to its owner, who now enjoys rolling down the streets and roads of the Costa del Sol, uploaded on his new Harley Davidson Scrambler “Seventy”

“Speedster”, is a Sportster Cafe Racer tribute to Porsche that has been runner-up in the world (modified Harley category) in theAMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building2018. And thanks to it, the workshop motorcycle transformation of Lord Drake Kustoms it has positioned itself among the best Harley workshops in Malagaand the rest of Spain.
The words of Ferry Clot that inspired this Sportster Cafe Racer
Behind this motorcycle there is a story that the owner of LDK, Fran Manen, will never forget. Fran was preparing since 2018 a custom motorcycle to compete in the AMD World Championship held in October. In the month of July of that year, the Lord Drake Kustoms team assumed (much to their dismay) that it was impossible to finish the project on time and decided to cancel their assistance.
Suddenly, one day at the end of August, Fran Manen received a call from his friend Ferry that would change the course of this whole story.
Ferry Clot founder of Hot Dreams and pioneer of motorcycle transformation in Spain; He called to ask Fran if he was going to Germany at the World Custom Bike Show
in October. Ferry needed someone to take his motorcycle to compete and he could not attend because he was sick. Fran asked him what was wrong with him, and Ferry replied that he was fighting cancer.
The owner of LDK, stunned by this news, replied to Ferry that he would not attend the championship because he no longer had time to finish his project. Ferry’s response was: “NO, try to go anyway, you’ve been there once and you’ve seen how important it’s to be there. If you cannot finish that project you wanted, take one of the transformed Harley you have already finished, detail it, improve it what you can and go, even to make a presence”.
Fran went on to say that it was impossible, that he had already lost the illusion and that there was only a little more than a month left. So he didn’t want to think about the championship that year or its custom Harley. However, from that conversation, Fran did not stop thinking about the words of Ferry Clot.
Three days later, after much reflection and not sleeping, everything changed. Fran Manen arrived at his Harley customization workshop in Malaga, and informed his team that they were going to the championship. He would use a Harley Davidson Sportster Cafe Racer that they were building for a customer and that was about to end.
Fran called the client and asked if he could take the motorcycle to the Customization World Championship, although changes in colors, finishes and details should be made for this.
The motorcycle owner told him “Go ahead”. And there began a trip against the clock that, in less than a month, made Lord Drake Kustoms go from not attending the Championship to become the Runner-Up in the world of transformation of Harley.
The transformation process of the Harley Sportster 883
The idea was to turn this Sportster 883 Cafe Racer, almost finished, into a project that Fran had in his head for some time: a motorcycle tribute to the car brand Porsche (hence its name “Speedster” in honor of one of the mythical models of the German brand).
For this, the work of transformation of this motorcycle had to have a sporty, aggressive and elegant result. It has to be a Porsche motorcycle, it has to remind a 911 Carrera, a Speedster or a 917 model of the 24 hours of Le Mans.
A good job of painting and airbrushing on custom motorcycles like this one is absolutely necessary to obtain the great keys. And of course, details, many details, such as the Porsche emblems, the rear pilots, the craft tail, the wooden grips combined with chrome, sports gas cap and a very long list of exclusive components.
This Harley Davidson Sportster 883 R from 2007 converted to Cafe Racer and built in our motorcycle workshop in Malaga, was in 2nd place worldwide (modified Harley category) in the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building held in Germany in 2018.
From here, we want to thank and share part of this triumph with our friend Ferry Clot. Wherever he is, he is surely customizing something. Thanks Ferry!
